Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu Durbar Square lies in the heart of Kathmandu city.It is the royal palace during the medieval time use for center of administration, festivals and cultural activities. The entire palace is named as Hanumandhoka because the main entrance of the palace one can see the big hanuman stone statue is known as monkey god.It is the historic seat of royalty. The Durbar square, with its old temples and places, epitomizes the religious and cultural life of people. It is here that kings of Nepal are crowed and their coronations solemnized. Interesting things to see here are Taleju Temple built by Mahendra Malla in 1549 AD, the temple of Kal Bhairav, the god of destruction, Nautalle Durbar, Coronation Nasal Chowk, the Gaddi Baithak, the statue of King Pratap Mall, the Big Drum, the Jagannath temple and Kasthmandap. It was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument list in 1979 AD. Goddess Kumari (the only living goddess in the world): Kumari (Vestal Virgin) or the only living Goddes in the world, who represents a very ancient Hindu deity of Nepal locally known as Taleju, is Buddhist by birth. The temple Kumari is situated in the vicinity of Hanuman Dhoka Palace. The building has intricately carved wooden balconies and window screens. The Kumari acknowledges greetings from her balcony window.

Pokhara

Pokhara Pokhara is the second largest city of Nepal which is situated about 200 km west of the capital Kathmandu. It is the headquarters of the Western Development Region. Pokhara is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. Three out of the ten highest mountains in the world:Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu or Lamjung himal are situated within 30 miles (linear distance) of the city so that the northern skyline of the city offers a very close view of the Himalayas. Due to its proximity to the Annapurna mountain range the city is also a base for trekkers undertaking the Annapurna Circuit through the ACAP region of the Annapurna ranges in the Himalayas.Pokhara is located on the main road between Kathmandu & Bhairawa , there may be no other place in the world from which the great Himalayan peaks can be admired from such a close distance. The town of Pokhara has quietly won the hearts of travelers from around the world.Many visitors find their most lasting impression of Nepal comes from the awesome “Fish-tail” of majestic Maccha-puchare Mountain reflected in the still waters of Pokhara's fewa lake. Pokhara's seclusion made it a place of mystery in the past. Once arriving in Pokhara you would definitely say - "ohh! The mountain is still young”.Pokhara is the finest natural city of the world and is marked by a half dozen lakes of varying sizes, all linked by a trekking trail. Hence, it is also known as a lake city of Nepal. It is Nepal's tourism capital and the second largest tourist destination too.The sites not to be missed in Pokhara are Devi's fall, Fewa Lake & Barahi temple, Sarangkot hilllock, Beganas Lake, Seti gorge, Mahendra cave, International Mountain Museum, Bindabasini temple & Kahun

 

 

Bandipur

Bandipur an ancient Newari mountain town lies in Tanahu District, Gandaki Zone in the Mahabharat range at an altitude of 3400 feet. It is 135 k.m. to the west and 80 k.m. to the south of Pokhara, 62 k.m. to the north of Narayanghat, and 7 k.m. from Prithivi Highway 's Dumre Bazaar and about 20 minutes’ drive from the highway.It has abundance of ancient houses, temples of great significance and historical architecture, this medieval-era town boasts festivals all year around, besides a plethora of cultural offerings. The weather is cool all the year round – the maximum temperature in winter is between 18–20 degree centigrade while the minimum temperature plummets to 2 degree centigrade. In the summer season, the temperature goes up to 30 degree centigrade and the minimum temperature downs to 12 degree centigrade. The hill top settlement is a treat to the eyes during the monsoon. Although different communities such as Magar, Gurung, Bahun, Kshetry, Damai, Kami and Sarki live in the Bandipur. It is predominantly a Newar town.
